Generally, with only a GED, you can't attend degree courses in public universities in Italy.
In addition to the GED certificate, you must take the AP exam or complete a one-year university-level or foundation program.
There are universities that only accept the GED certificate to attend the Italy Foundation, and there are universities that require an additional AP exam. (After being accepted with a GED and attending the Foundation, please be aware that the AP exam is often requested when applying for a bachelor's program.)
What is AP?
AP refers to the Advanced Placement exam.
Both Advanced Placement (AP) and SAT exams are administered by the College Board.
The AP exam is regarded as a higher academic standard compared to Grade 12 and the GED.
AP subjects encompass:
- AP Science
- AP Math and Computer Science
- AP History and Social Science
- AP World Languages and Cultures
- AP English
Candidates are expected to select three subjects aligned with their chosen bachelor's program.
AP exams are scheduled to take place annually in May.
It should be noted that candidates are permitted to sit for the exam once per year, with results typically released in July.
Generally, the AP exam format comprises both multiple-choice and open-ended questions.
Scores are assigned on a scale ranging from 1 to 5.
A minimum score of 3 is typically required for university admission.
The fee for each AP subject exam is $128.
In Myanmar, candidates have the opportunity to undertake the AP exam. This examination is facilitated by international schools authorized to conduct the exam. Candidates may opt for self-study or attend institutions offering AP courses to prepare for the exam, which generally necessitates approximately one year of preparation.
